SC&D was retained in 2000 by the Livonia Avon
& Lakeville Railroad to help obtain a lease from
Norfolk
Southern on approximately 120 miles of track from
Hornell
,
New York
to
Corry
,
Pennsylvania
, the old Erie Lackawanna Line. In
April of 2001 the lease was signed and the WNYPRR Railroad was formed.
WNYPRR began operations on April 26, 2001.
Stone Consulting assisted the WNYPRR on a number of projects:
Provided certified track inspectors and served as the
engineering department for the start-up railroad
Oversaw a safety tie project consisting of 1,100 ties to
get the railroad in operation
Procured a
Pennsylvania
$750,000 capital budget grant to replace ties on a 28 mile stretch of
line to bring it up to class 3
Designed and oversaw construction of the
Falconer
Operations
Center
and Engine House
Provided Cost estimates, design and construction
observation for over $10,000,000 in track upgrades on the
New York
State
portion of the railroad
Design and construction observation for over $2,000,000 in
signal and crossing upgrades
